12. BOLIVIA — SIGEMIG PRE-REGISTRATION (do not skip)

Bolivia requires every foreign traveler to complete the free online SIGEMIG entry registration before arriving. It's free, takes ~10 minutes, and is now a top reason travelers get pulled aside at the border (El Alto/La Paz). Skipping it can mean a fine (~UFV 100 ≈ 250 Bolivianos) on exit.

  • Official SIGEMIG portal: https://sistemas.migracion.gob.bo/sigemig/ (login: http://sistemas.migracion.gob.bo/sigemig/#/seguridad/login)
  • Run by the Dirección General de Migración (DIGEMIG) — main site: https://www.migracion.gob.bo/
  • You'll need: names exactly as on passport, nationality, DOB, gender, and your lodging/accommodation details in Bolivia (hostel name/address).
  • Visa: As of Dec 1, 2025, US/UK/EU/Canada/Australia/NZ passports enter visa-free for 90 days — but SIGEMIG is still mandatory. Confirm your nationality's status before you go.
  • ⚠️ Use ONLY the official .gob.bo site above. Many third-party sites (natvisa, etc.) charge a fee to do the free form for you — avoid them.

🔴 Do SIGEMIG before you cross into Bolivia (you'll know your Atacama→Uyuni dates by then; fill it in on WiFi the day before).
